I'm not dead

I'm just exhausted.

Nate's been getting up 5-7 times a night, needing a diaper change each time.  Of course any time we touch his butt he'd scream.

So, since last Thursday, Jason and I have gotten a combined total of about 15 hours of sleep.

Things are healing - he now has a new layer of skin over most of the affected area, it's just still sensitive.  Hopefully once this all heals the three of us can take a nice long nap together.

  1. Hey there. Just started following you. My oldest son went through some really awful diaper rash when he was a baby also. It ended up being the diapers we were using. We had tried Pampers Crusiers, but they have a mesh-like covering that would get stuck up in his butt, thus holding the poop & wetness directly against his skin all the time. Pretty much doing the complete opposite of what you want a diaper to do! Once we switched diapers, we took the doctor's advice and stopped using wipes until he was healed (had to use cloth diapers with a little soap & water to wipe him), used a hair dryer (on cool setting) to dry his butt & then slathered on a layer of vaseline. I hope the little man gets better real soon. Be wary of all of the more expensive cruiser-type diapers. They're so bad for them!

  2. Lori - we completely changed our diapering routine during the great bleeding butt saga. My hair dryer moved from my bathroom is his bedroom, we used paper towels and so much naked time I think every piece of furniture in my living room got peed on. Heck, I got peed on three times and pooped on once. It was a case of a stomach bug and a yeast infection that luckily has completely cleared. He's back in his pampers and only pooping once a day. Now we're on to dealing with the plague. Lucky us!
